A Strike Back at Talk Show Radio

It is good to know that there is at least some line that talk show radio cannot cross.  The Austin Statesman reports that KLBJ-AM (Austin, Texas) has canceled “The Todd and Don Show,” and co-host Don Pryor has been taken off the air under an agreement reached by the station’s owners and local members of the U.S. Hispanic Contractors Association. The contractors’ group also agreed to cancel plans for a boycott of parent company Emmis Austin Radio, six local stations, and their advertisers.

“The agreement follows last week’s repeated use by Pryor of an ethnic slur to describe illegal immigrants on the morning talk show, triggering complaints from listeners and Hispanic leaders.”  It is hard to imagine that anyone could think they could get away with that.
