Constitution on ICE: A Report on Immigration Home Raid Operations
Bill Hing blogged yesterday about the N.Y. Times article on the new report by the Immigration Justice Clinic of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University on the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency’s home raid operations — in contrast to the many workplace raids, such as in Postville, Iowa in May 2008 — over the last two year’s of the Bush administration. There is a link to the report below. The report concludes that immigration agents have engaged in widespread constitutional violations during such operations. Constitution on ICE: A Report on Immigration Home Raid Operations documents the violations involving immigration agents forcing their way into private residences during pre-dawn hours, without warrants or other legal authority, and seizing residents without legal basis, in a pattern suggesting racial profiling. Is this still the land of liberty and justice for all?
