Immigrant of the Day: Alejandro Mayorkas (Cuba), New U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director

Alejandro Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant, has been sworn in as the new Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.  Mayorkas will oversee a workforce of nearly 18,000 people. He has served as the United States Attorney for the Central District of California and was a partner in O’Melveny and Myers. Mayorkas holds a J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.
