From the Bookshelves: How to Read the Air, The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears
The N.Y. Times has a nice write up on novelist Dinaw Mengestu, whose new novel is “How to Read the Air” and also authored “The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears.” Mengestu’s books are “populated by exiles, refugees, émigrés and children of the African diaspora, all struggling both to find a place in the American landscape and to make sense of their attenuated relationship to the world they left behind.” Mengestu immigrated to the United States from Ethiopia when he was two years old.
