Salvadoran Children’s Poetry Festival

I write you to invite you to a very special fundraising event!  CARECEN is supporting a SF writers’ project to bring poetry and literacy to El Salvador.  A group of Latino poets and writers lead by Jorge Argeta a renowned Salvadoran poet and children’s book writer will host a poetry festival in El Salvador in Nov.   They need our support to make this project successful!

Last year – this group of writers held their first San Francisco/El Salvador Poetry festival for children and more than 800 children attended.  This year they aim to reach even more children.  This is a very special opportunity for us to create real links to Central America.  Your donations will pay for snacks, books and other materials for children in El Salvador and help to cover some of the travel costs for the SF writers!  Details:

Please come to a reception and art auction and donate.  If you are not able to attend but would like to contribute please donate on our website and make sure to add – poetry festival or you can call our front office (415)642-4400, ask for Karla and do it by phone.  And if you wish you can support the post office by sending us a check by snail mail!
