Emerging Immigration Law Scholars and Teacher’s Conference

Annoucing this summer’s Emerging Immigration Law Scholars and Teacher’s Conference, an event aimed at creating a space for junior law teachers to share drafts of research and writing projects, discuss teaching techniques and get to know one another.

This year’s conference will be held at the University of California-Irvine School of Law on June 13-14, 2013. The conference will run from 9:00am to 8:00 on Thursday June 13th, and from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Friday, June 14th. It has been scheduled to immediately follow the AALS Workshop on Poverty, Immigration and Property taking place in San Diego, CA on June 10-12.

The conference will consist of panel discussions on teaching immigration law (covering doctrinal and clinical teaching), scholarship, tenure and other career issues, as well as works-in-progress sessions. It will be open to emerging law teachers (tenured, tenure-track and non-tenure track) who have been teaching immigration law for eight years or less. This includes doctrinal and clinical faculty, fellows, and others looking to enter full-time law teaching.

The registration website is available at:

There will be a $100 early bird registration fee for the conference, which ends May 3. Registration fee increases after May 3.  The deadline for indicating your interest in presenting a work-in-progress (done via the registration website) is also May 3.
