From the Asian American Justice Center:

Letter from Mee Moua

Asian Americans Advancing Justice
Becoming Greater than the Sum of Our Parts

Dear Friends:

We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on exciting changes taking place here. Today we completed a multi-year transition of formalizing our partnership with our affiliates by adopting a common name, Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC. I am proud to say that from now on we will be known as Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC to show our affiliation with the following groups:

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Los Angeles
(formerly Asian Pacific American Legal Center)

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago
 (formerly Asian American Institute)

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Asian Law Caucus
 (formerly Asian Law Caucus)

We launched Asian Americans Advancing Justice to serve our communities better and become as effective as possible in addressing the human and civil rights issues faced by Asian Americans and other vulnerable and underserved communities. Working together as ‘Advancing Justice’ will make us greater than the sum of our parts. We have a strong and cohesive human and civil rights infrastructure that is already working locally, regionally and nationally. We will work together to influence national debates and bring the voice of grassroots advocates to the national arena.

As members of Advancing Justice, we will operate as equal and independent partners that share common principles and work closely on critical issues. Each organization will continue to operate with separate boards of directors, executive directors, staffs, programs and finances and be accountable to our local, regional and national communities. Together we will continue building an advocacy voice within the AAPI civil rights community. Our goal is to create an increasingly effective platform that leverages not only on our own expertise and credibility but our aggregate experience in legal services, public policy, advocacy, litigation, leadership development, research, community organizing and strategic communications as a whole.

We look forward to hearing from you as we continue to build upon and strengthen our affiliation. But more than anything, we wanted to let you know that despite the new name and look, we will continue to remain committed and accountable to you-our stakeholders.

Sincerely,

Mee Moua
President and Executive Director
