Celebrate World Refugee Day

From the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter

OUR COMMUNITY CELEBRATES 21ST ANNUAL WORLD REFUGEE DAY

The United Nations declares June as the Refugee Month around the world. The State of California also considers June as Refugee Month.

As the nation debates immigration issues, the Refugee & Immigration Forum invites you to a celebration of resiliency, diversity and solidarity at the upcoming World Refugee Day.  This event is held each year to highlight the plight of refugees all over the world who are forced to flee their homes due to fear of persecution. Refugee Day events recognize the contribution of refugees to the world, and promotes understanding of the reasons why people seek sanctuary and how they integrate into their new community through arts, culture and education.  Refugees from Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia will gather to celebrate the diversity, strength and beauty of refugee communities that live and work in Santa Clara County.

Entertainers from a broad range of refugee communities will perform during World Refugee Day.  In addition, participants can find resource information regarding local services.  A wearable art show and children’s activities will also be featured. Light refreshments will be served.  The community is invited to attend this FREE EVENT!
