Guest Blog Post: Kit Johnson on Photos of the U.S./Mexico Border

Several weeks ago, I had the pleasure of auditing Rose Cuison Villazor’s week-long Immigration Law & Border Enforcement Program in El Paso. It was a wonderful experience, and one I strongly recommend other interested professors to consider—especially since Rose indicated to me her willingness to take on other academics as attendees. I left with with a fresh perspective on the border, immigration court, consulates, and detention. 

During the program, I took many photographs. You can find photos of the border and immigration court on my flickr stream. There are very few publicly available photos of immigration court, so I hope the ones I took may be useful. I will note that the EOIR did not allow photography of the courtroom with the EOIR seal in place, so if it feels as though something is missing, there is.
