Live From Artesia: Sunrise

IMG_6918

Sunrise yesterday morning was just gorgeous. This is the view looking to the East (naturally) across the land that borders the Artesia detention facility on the South.

You can see one of the city’s water towers on the horizon. And, to the right of that, the Navajo Refinery, which is the largest refinery in New Mexico. While I think the refinery looks beautiful in the sunrise, I’m not surprised that their official photo does not show it billowing vapor into the air but rather vapor-free with a lovely rainbow peeking in the background.

In the foreground as far as the eye can see is desert scrub brush. There is a lot of low-level desert vegetation in the open spaces here in Artesia. And gravel. For some reason the roads are just a little bit dusty with hints of gravel everywhere.
