Career Advice From Former Undocumented Immigrant-Turned-Goldman Sachs VP
CNBC has a nice article/video featuring career advice from Julissa Arce (Twitter: @julissaarce), who at the time she applied for an internship at Goldman Sachs was an undocumented immigrant. She eventually worked for the investment bank for seven years, and was promoted to Vice President at Goldman. Arce’s advice is solid and applicable to pretty much anyone starting out their careeers (“1. Check in with my bosses periodically on my progress; 2. Set and receive expectations for compensation; 3. Be intentional about promotions; 4. Self-promote (something many people are afraid to do) and 5) Be flexible.”)
Arce is also scheduled to publish a book, “My Underground American Dream,” in September 2016.
