Craig Mousin: Immigration Law Primer for Sen. Sessions

Craig%20Mousin

In a blog post for the Chicago Theological Seminary, Craig Mousin provides a thought experiment in which he applies modern U.S. immigration law to major biblical figures, and identifies scores of immigration law violations that would subject those biblical leaders to immigration sanctions such as deportation and detenion.  He provides the comments with particular emphasis on their relevance for Attorney General nominee Sen. Jeff Sessions, who has purported to make the Bible a central piece of his political career.  Writes Mousin, “God forgives murderers in the Bible, calling Moses and David to leadership, but our immigration law does not forgive easily, barring them entry, thus eliminating their inspiration from the biblical canon.”

The essay on which the blog post is based, You Were Told to Love the Immigrant, But What If the Story Never Happened? Hospitality and United States Immigration Law, has been published in the Vincentian Heritage Journal.
