White House Immigration Demands in Exchange for DACA

So much for not treating DACA holders as bargaining chips.

The New York Times and Washington Post are reporting that the White House will soon issue a  memo outlining their list of immigration demands in exchange for support on legislation that would provide a solution for DACA holders. The list includes the construction of the border wall, the hiring of 10,000 additional immigration agents, denial of federal grants to so-called sanctuary jurisdictions, the expanded use of E-Verify and harshening legal standards for children fleeing Central America (particularly where they seek to reunite with family in the U.S.).  The demands with respect to Central American children are particularly noteworthy, and appear to include legislation that would expand the use of expedited removal against Central American children and the elimination of unaccompanied minor protections.
