Hlass: “Our Immigration System Must Treat Immigrant Children as Children”

In an op-ed in The Hill, Laila Hlass (Tulane) writes about the current Administration’s treatment of immigrant children, with a focus on the detention of immigrant children and harms resulting from detention, criminalization of immigrant youth (similar to the decades-old myth of juvenile “hyper-predators”) and absence of appointed counsel in immigration court, even for youth.
