 César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández in an op/ed in the New York Times (“Abolish Immigration Prisons“) calls for the end of immigration detention:  “We should shut down these institutions, end the suffering they cause and redirect the money.”  The op-ed hits key points raised in his book, Migrating to Prison: America’s Obsession with Locking Up Immigrants (The New Press), which is being released today.
