The global pandemic and its ripple effects have left economies around the world with tightening labor markets.  It also has contributed to a global competition for international students and migrants generally.

Ankita Sen for the Economic Times notes that, in part due to favorable immigration policies, Canada has competed well for international students.  “Things are changing post-pandemic. Canada is now facing stiff competition from countries like the UK and Australia, especially in terms of post graduation work opportunities,” says Akshay Chaturvedi, founder, Leverage Edu.  Better work opportunities and an easier path to citizenship is driving more people to these countries,

In addition, the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia and UAE, have been seen as a study abroad opportunities.  Students can pursue their degrees for a fraction of the cost they would pay in the UK or United States.
