Immigration @ AALS: New Voices in Immigration Law
Immigration @ AALS kicked off yesterday with New Voices in Immigration Law. The turnout was AMAZING. A big, big thanks to everyone who showed up and participated. You made it a fabulous session.
The new voices we heard from were:
- Nermeen Arastu and Qudsiya Naqui, Standing on Our Own Two Feet: Disability Justice as a Frame for Achieving Abolition and Dismantling Our Ableist Immigration System.
- Jocelyn B. Cazares, Legalized Removals of Noncitizens Deemed to Have [In]Credible or [Un]Reasonable Fears: The Role of Discretion in the Review Process of Fear Determinations.
- Richard H. Frankel, Restoring “Civil”ity in Immigration Proceedings.
- Talia Peleg, The Dangers of ICE’s Unrestrained Rearrest Power.
- Carrie Rosenbaum, Arbitrary Arbitrariness Review.
Keep an eye out for these amazing papers — coming soon in print. I, for one, can’t wait to read the final versions.
