Call for Papers: October AAPI/MENA Workshop at William & Mary

The Fourth Annual Workshop for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Women in the Legal Academy, October 25-26, 2024, will be held in person at William & Mary Law School; in addition, we will be hosting a dinner reception the evening of Thursday, October 24.

This workshop is aimed at building community and supporting and mentoring women aspiring to enter or who are in the legal academy. The workshop will include a space for workshopping incubators and works in progress, exploring our shared identities and history, and dialoguing about professional development and wellness.
Works-in-Progress and Incubators: To present an incubator or work in progress (WIP), please submit a 200-word-max abstract via email with the subject line “Incubator Abstract” or “WIP Abstract” to AAPIMENAWorkshop@gmail.com by Friday, September 6. Full drafts of WIPs and Incubators will be due October 4. A “Work in Progress” is a draft article that others can comment on which the author intends to publish in a law journal. An “Incubator” is a 2-3 page summary of an idea or argument that also describes the subject matter of a future article, where others can provide feedback.
Paper Competition: In addition, we will be sponsoring a paper competition open to anyone who identifies as part of this community. Submissions should be completed full-length law review articles published in 2024 or slated to be published in 2025. To enter the competition, please submit the article as a file with all identifying information redacted from the text, including footnotes and acknowledgements and references to prior work, to AAPIMENAWorkshop@gmail.com by September 6, with the subject line “Paper Competition Submission.” The winner will be announced at the conference.
Please stay tuned for conference registration information. In the meantime, feel free to send any questions to the conference organizers at AAPIMENAWorkshop@gmail.com
We hope to see you in October!
