Buy Yourself a Small White Board
It’s the holiday season and, let’s be real for a second. No one is going to get you something that you actually want as a gift. You’ve got to get what you want for yourself.
My recommendation: Buy a small white board. I’ve got a mini 5.5 x 10 inch one. Handheld. This thing is GENIUS for answering student questions during office hours. It allows for a quick, visual response. Every time I use it, I inevitably get the following student response with “oh, I get it now.”
Don’t understand the relationship between the AG, the DOJ, EOIR, and AUSAs? Let me draw you an org chart.
Don’t understand how it can be that an LPR with a nondeportable criminal conviction can run into problems if they leave the country? Let me draw you a timeline annotated with INA cites.
Obviously you also need a stash of brightly colored dry erase markers.
Treat yo self.
