1 Week Summer Program for Students & Immprofs

Last summer I had the pleasure of participating in the Rhizome Center’s 1 week program in Guadalajara. It was fascinating to study immigration from the perspective of Mexico. I highly encourage students and/or immprofs to attend.

The Rhizome Center for Migrants will host its semiannual immigration program this August 2-7, 2025, in Guadalajara, a major economic center and immigration hub in the interior of Mexico. Our one-week program is a foundational program on Mexican and international protection mechanisms and comparative laws and framework. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from key on-the-ground stakeholders on the realities of Trump policies on Mexico and the region. During your week with us, you will hear directly from impacted individuals, frontline activists, attorneys, and others who are fighting back and building inclusive communities in Western Central Mexico. Our previous participants have come from across the United States and include seasoned attorneys, academics, social workers, communications folk, organizers, and policymakers. You can find their testimonials here. The deadline to sign up is May 1st
