Rubio Statement on Visas for International Students from China

Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced in a press release that the United States would “aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students.”

Rubio’s statement emphasizes his concern for students “with connections to the Chinese Communist Party” as well as those “studying in critical fields.”

He also announced a plan to “revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.”
