The Jacket and the Editorial Cartoons
In June, First Lady Melania Trump traveled to visit a detention center for immigrant children separated from their parents. On her flight there and back FLOTUS wore a coat from Zara, emblazoned with the words: “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” People were (rightly) outraged. But her communications director assured everyone: “It’s a jacket, there was no hidden message.”
Melania Trump has now reversed that statement, saying “I wore the jacket to go on the plane and off the plane… And it was for the people and for the left-wing media who are criticizing me.”
One editorial cartoonist responded to this revelation with the following:
