Immigration Enforcement is Out of Control at the Federal Level: It’s Not Just Arizona By BILL QUIGLEY
Bill Quigley (Loyola-New Orleans) on Counterpunch places the Arizona immigration law in its proper perspective: “While people protest the terrible Arizona state law that uses local law enforcement to target immigrants, the federal government is expanding its efforts to use local law enforcement in immigration enforcement and has launched a major PR campaign to defend it.”
Along these lines, David Bacon on Truthout recently reported that “Federal immigration authorities have pressured one of San Francisco’s major building service companies, ABM, into firing hundreds of its own workers. Some 475 janitors have been told that unless they can show legal immigration status, they will lose their jobs in the near future.”
