President- Elect Trump and the U.S. History of Deportation Campaigns

President-Elect Trump has promised mass deportations in his return to the White House.  In “The US Has Deported Immigrants En Masse Before. Here’s What Happened.,” Ali Bianco for Politico highlights some of the many deportation campaigns in U.S. history.   Importantly, “[o]ver the years, the biggest “mass deportations” in the U.S. have been, by and large, high-pressure publicity campaigns that stoked such fear among immigrants that they chose to `self-deport.’”
