Senators Schumer and Graham Reaffirm Their Commitment to Comprehensive Immigration Reform Senator Schumer: “We Just Need To Move Forward.”
On Sunday, in a joint appearance on Meet The Press, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) confirmed that they will continue to work together to achieve comprehensive immigration reform this year. Despite last week’s comments declaring immigration reform dead, Senator Graham explicitly pledged to continue working with Senator Schumer on a comprehensive fix to our broken immigration system.
Senator Schumer: “But I would plead with him, if we can get that second Republican, we have business and labor ready to sign on, we have all the religious community – not just the liberals but the evangelicals – we even have Lou Dobbs and Bill O’Reilly saying positive things about our proposal. I would urge that we try to get this done because it’s so important for America.”
Senator Graham appeared more pessimistic about immigration reform than Senator Schumer. Grahamn accused of the Obama administration as “doing nothing” on immigrtaion reform this year. Judge for yourself by looking at the video link above.
