Today, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), the lone Latino in the Senate, urged a Major League Baseball players’ boycott of the 2011 All Star Game over Arizona’s new immigration law. In a letter to the Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director, Menendez pointed out that more than one in four major leaguers is Latino, and more than one in four is foreign born. In his letter, Menendez praised the union for its vocal opposition to the Arizona immigration law.

In addition, the National Latino Congreso announced that it is joining Congressman Raul Grijalva and a growing number of national, regional, and local organizations in calling for a boycott of Arizona until Senate Bill 1070 is repealed.
