Another Legal Challenge to Arizona Law, Focus on Racial Profiling
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) on Friday filed the seventh lawsuit challenging the now infamous Arizona immigration law, SB 1070. For a story and complaint, click here.
The complaint picks up where the U.S. Department of Justice suit leaves off. In addition to the Supremacy Clause, Federal Preemption, and Commerce Clause claims, the LULAC suit includes Due Process and Equal Protection Claims that focus on the racial profiling potential of the Arizona law. The complaint claims that the law, along with the current training materials, creates the potential for “widespread” racial profiling in the enforcement of the law.
