Can State and Local Law Enforcement “Opt Out” of Secure Communities?
ImmigrationProf has previously reported that some communities, including the District of Columbia and Santa Clara, CA, San Francisco, and Arlington, VA counites, have sought to opt out of the Obama Administration’s controversial Secure Communities program, which requires that local authorities share the fingerprints of persons booked for — but not convicted of — crimes.
