Texas’ Sheriff Joe?

ImmigrationProf previously reported on country music legend’s Willie Nelson’s tangle with the law on the U.S./Mexico border in Texas.   The Texas Tribune reports on another legendary — at least in Texas — figure involved in the arrest:  “Paunchy, Stetson-wearing Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West, who put Willie in the local pokey, is a reigning symbol of the years-long fight over border security and immigration. No stranger to the media, he’s made appearances on national TV, before Congress and at the Capitol in Austin — but some question whether his colorful tales about piles of drugs and rampant violence are constructed merely to drive millions in state and federal money to his department.”
