New Mexico Governor Rescinds “Sanctuary” Policy: orders state police to ask suspects about immigration status

Big changes are going on in New Mexico!  New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez has directed state police to start asking about the immigration status of people arrested for crimes. The executive order by Martinez (Download Exec 209[1]) rescinds a policy put in place in 2005 by then-Gov. Bill Richardson, which Governor Martinez labels as a state “sanctuary” policy.
