Death on the Border Chapter 1001: No More Deaths: The Crisis on the U.S.- Mexico Border in Arizona

Ted Hesson on the Huffington Post
reminds us of the continuing deaths along the U.S/Mexico border resulting from increased border enforcement:  “Since 1994, there have been more than 6,000 confirmed deaths on the border. . . . . The number of confirmed migrant deaths along the border since 1994 is roughly the same as the combined number of U.S.-soldier fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

1994 is the year that the Clinton administration, in response to California’s Proposition 187, began to implement border operations — or, as some might put it, militarizing the U.S./Mexico border, beginning with Operation Gatekeeper south of San Diego.
