Immigrant of the Day: Obed Silva (Mexico)

Obed Silva, now a college graduate with a Master’s and a teacher at Cypress College in Southern California, immigrated from Mexico, was a gangster in the OC as a youth, and turned his life around after he was shot and confined to a wheel chair. After years of proceedings, the U.S. government finally decided not to try to remove him from the United States. Hector Tobar of the LA Times writes about Silva’s new life.
