Undocumented immigrants honored in California Assembly

I was at the California state capital yesterday to see the Chief Justice of California’s annual State of the Judiciary speech but missed another event.  The Sacramento Bee reports that five undocumented immigrants received a standing ovation on the Assembly floor or their campaign to reform the U.S. immigration laws. The immigrants are walking from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., to lobby for the Dream Act, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for longtime undocumented residents who graduated from U.S. high schools.

By the way, the comments to the Bee story are worth reading to get a sense of some of the irrationality of teh national debate over immigration.
