The Underside of the DREAMers Victory

The smoke is beginning to clear from the surprising policy announcement last Friday by the Obama administration’s that promises to benefit undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.  The unpleasant underside of the announcement are touched on in two pieces that warrant attention.  Immigration guru Dan Kowalski on HuffPost Latino Voices advises DREAMers who may be eligible for deferred action and work permits to avoid notarios and scammers.  Immigration, education, and civil rights expert Professor Michael Olivas in the Chronicle of Higher Education concludes that the Obama policy announcement is in effect too little, too late.
