A few weeks ago, the trial in Melendres v. Arpaio concluded. In that case, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (Arizona) stood accused of engaging in a pattern and practice of racial discrimination against Latinos. It was a bench trial.
