Immigration reform in the U.S. will happen – once several major issues are resolved
Allan Wernick predicts that “immigration reform with a path to citizenship is a certainty, barring a major catastrophe or upheaval. The question now is what form it will take. The basic outline is clear: legalization of undocumented immigrants, a special program for undocumented youth, increased sanctions against employers who hire undocumented workers (with mandatory electronic verification of employment authorization), expanded visa opportunities for highly-educated professionals and an updated non-immigrant visa program for agricultural workers.
