Judge Edith Jones Under Fire, Charged with Being Racially Biased
CNN reports on a story that doesn’t look like its going away anytime soon. Civil rights groups filed a complaint earlier this week against a federal judge after she allegedly said during a lecture that some minorities are prone to violence.Conservative Judge Edith Jones, who serves on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and was a Bush-era Supreme Court frontrunner, allegedly made the comment while speaking on the death penalty to The Federalist Society at the University of Pennsylvania in February.
Although Judge Jones did not say anything about immigrant propensities for crime, one can only wonder what her views might be. She wrote the Fifth Circuit decision denying relief from removal to Adrian Moncrieffe, a long term immigrant convicted for possessing enough marijuana for 2-3 cigrarettes, which the Supreme Court reveresed in a 7-2 opinion.
