Supreme Court Denies Cert in Arizona S.B. 1070 Case
As I predicted, the Supreme Court today denied a petition for certiorari and declined to review a lower court decion (Arizona v. Valle del Sol) finding that federal immigration law prempted a provision in a Arizona S.B. 1070 provision that sought to criminalize the harboring and transportation of illegal immigrants.
Since deciding Arizona v. United States, the Court has denied cert in a number of cases raising similar issues, including those involving controversial Hazleton, Pennsylvania and Farmers Branch, Texas laws. I expect similar treatment in this case.
