Why Immigration Reform is DOA?
Readers of the ImmigrationProf blog know that I occasionally comment on comments to immigration news stories. The comments to immigration news reports are often often are frequently uninformed and ugly. Here are a couple of comments to a Washington Post story about the virtual political impossibility of immigration reform:

All the arguments of advocates have been proven either patently false or completely irrelevant. They have tried to link their self-created struggles to the American Indian, slavery, civil rights even invoked Caesar Chavez to try to justify their indefensible actions. They have tried to claim that the Southwest was illegitimately taken away from them and that the Aztecs were really in California. They have even attempted to tell us that no more illegal aliens were actually coming into the US. Most of the time, the debunking of these arguments has come from advocates or foreigners themselves. They demand they be allowed to stay, having successfully ignored our laws for a long period of time. They say it is only right to give Permanent Resident Status to people who are essentially foreign colonists. But they have never been willing to give more than lip service to stopping the flow of illegal aliens across our border. They want that to remain wide open so many more of their countrymen can come and take advantage of the generousness they have won for them. But for Americans it is critical. The people so anxious to get their families here don’t stop to think that if America is attacked and multitudes killed because of their precious open-border, there will be a massive push to expel ALL immigrants. But they never think that far ahead…otherwise they wouldn’t have come here in the first place….more

” . . . it will not come as a surprise to those of us who foresaw the weakness, vulnerability, and inevitability of what the Obama presidency would bring upon us, the president’s continued refusal to fight our enemies where they live, along with his dedication to open borders, amnesty, and voting rights for illegal non-citizens, will ensure that his greatest legacy will likely be chronic battle against the relentless tide of global jihad, and the needless deaths of thousands of Americans, at best, and many more than that at worst, on our own soil, as well as abroad. Our president has surrendered our security, our sovereignty, and our peace, all for the fraudulent votes of people who will protect him and his kind for generations to come.” http://www.americanthinker.com/2014/09/lives_for_v…
