Mayor of Murrietta Charged with Felony DUI, Resigns

Lat summer. the City of Murrieta, California was in the news as protesters sought to block buses from bringing Central Americans to be detained locally.

Murrieta’s mayor at the time Alan Long made headlines leading the challenge to Central American immigrants comming into town. Various media outlets have reported that Young has been charged with felony drunk driving in connection with an accident that injured four teenage girls. Long, who resigned as mayor of Murrieta days after his arrest, was formally charged last Thursday with driving while under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury.  The former city official was taken into custody on Oct. 16 after police said his pickup truck struck a car carrying four Murrieta Valley High School students, all girls aged 14 to 17, who suffered moderate to major injuries in the crash.
