The Congressional Budget Office released a report yesterday: How Changes in Immigration Policy Might Affect the Federal Budget. The report considers “possible effects that changes to immigration policy would have on several major federal spending programs and on federal tax revenues ” including health care programs for low-income people, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),Social Security, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicare, Pell grants and federal student loans, Unemployment insurance, and Refundable tax credits.
