Will the Normalization of Relations with Cuba Change Immigration Trends?
As previously reported on ImmigrationProf, the United States givernment is normalizing relations with Cuba. A question raised by the normalization is whether it will result in chanmges to immigration enforcement, such as removal of noncitizens to Cuba , or whether we will see a surge of migrants from Cuba. There have been some reports of a spike in migrants already.
Of course, some fear the replay of the Mariel Boatlift of 1980.
