District Court Rules on Show Your Papers Provision of Arizona’s SB 1070
On Friday, Judge Susan Bolton in Arizona issued a ruling in a number of remaining legal challenges to Arizona’s S.B. 1070. The ruling entering summary judgment against a facial challenge to Section 2(B), the “show your papers” provision that requires state and local police to assist in the enforcement of the federal immigration laws. While a facial challenge has been rejected, future challenges to the law “as applied” in a racially discriminatory way remain possible.
