The media is reminding us that fourteen years ago today, terrorism struck American soil and nearly 3,000 people died. As has been written, the legacy of the events of September 11 include adverse immigration consequences, such as the harsh immigration provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act. And many Americans today unfortunately connect terrorism and immigration.
Emotions have calmed in the years subsequent to 2001 but, as Donald Trump has taught us, we have work to do to ensure calm and rationale discussions of issues of public safety and immigrants.
