10 Year Old Seeks Constitutional Amendment

Alena Mulhern, a Massachusetts fifth grader, recently learned that she is ineligible to run for President of the United States because she was born in China. While Alena was adopted at the age of 10 months, and has lived in the United States her entire life, Article 2 of the U.S. constitution prevents her from running for the highest office in the land. She is not a “natural born citizen.” Undeterred, Alena wants to amend the constitution.
