Let the Raids Begin? Obama administration reportedly begins new raid campaign

Not long before Christmas, the Washington Post reported on the Obama administration’s plan  to step up immigration raids.  Nigel Duara of the Los Angeles Times reports that we already might be seeing the beginning a new raid campaign:

“The detentions of at least 11 families across the country marked the first day of an effort by the government to find and deport Central American migrants who sought refuge in the U.S. and stayed illegally, immigrant advocates said Saturday. Unlike a string of immigration raids in the mid-2000s, agents do not plan to conduct workplace raids or other mass enforcement actions, but will instead target addresses for families with deportation orders.”

Put differently, homes, not workplaces, will the focal point of immigration raids.  Such a tactic is sure to strike fear in immigrant communities across the United States.
