Oral Argument Set in United States v. Texas: April 18
The Supreme Court announced today that it will hear oral argument in the blockbuster case of United States v. Texas on Monday April 18. The U.S. government has submitted its brief, which in my opinion is excellent (much of it devoted to a compelling argument that the states lack standing under Article II)I. The Jane Doe Intervenors/Respondents, who are undocumented immigrants with U.S. citizen children, also filed a brief in support of the Petitioners, making of many of the same arguments made by the Solicitor General; they are represented by attorneys from O’Melveny & Myers, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and DLA Piper.
