Migrants Sent to Turkey from Greece

The EU’s new plan to tackle the European migration crisis is being implemented today. Migrants are being deported from Greece to Turkey, CNN reports.

Any migrant who entered Greece without authorization after March 20 will be subject to deportation. Turkey will accept up to 500 deportees a day. Turkey will, however, be sending an equal number of “vetted” Syrian refugees into Europe for resettlement.

In return, Turkey will receive funding to help provide for migrants within the country’s borders as well as “various political concessions.”
