Undocumented Immigrants Pay Billions in Taxes
Today, the American Immigration Council released two fact sheets:
- Adding Up the Billions in Tax Dollars Paid by Undocumented Immigrants This fact sheet shows that in spite of their undocumented status, millions of undocumented workers are paying taxes and adding value to the U.S. economy. If they had legal status, they would contribute even more.
- The Facts about the Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) This fact sheet on ITINs explains what they are—IRS tax processing numbers that ensure that all people, including undocumented immigrants, pay taxes—and describes the tax contributions from ITINs.
