The New British Prime Minister on Immigration

Theresa_May_2015

Today, Theresa May succeeds David Cameron as British prime minister.  She served as Home Secretary (and thus in charge of the administration of the UK’s immigration and citizenship laws)  for six years.

How will the new Prime Minister be on immigration?  The Guardian reports that May is probably best known for her tough stance on immigration as home secretary, including efforts to cut net migration numbers such as barring British citizens from bringing spouses and children into the UK unless they earn in excess of £18,600 ($24,000). May also has said that the EU ideal of freedom of movement could no longer prevail in post-Brexit Britain.
